ABOUT BEAVER COUNTY BUSINESS

Beaver County Business is the only publication dedicated entirely to covering the companies, entrepreneurs, and economic forces shaping Beaver County, Pennsylvania. From downtown storefronts to global corporations with roots along the Ohio River, we tell the stories that matter to the people who live and work here. We believe business news doesn’t have to be dull. That’s why our reporting blends accuracy with a touch of wit, grounded in the tradition of great columnists like Russell Baker. Whether we’re tracing the rise and fall of Michael Baker Corporation, covering broadband expansion, or explaining what on earth a Bitcoin mine is doing in a cornfield, our goal is the same: to inform, entertain, and occasionally raise an eyebrow.

What We Do

  • The Whole Dam Business: Our flagship newsletter bringing Beaver County’s business news directly to your inbox.

Why We Exist

Beaver County has always punched above its weight—from steel rails to fiber lines, from the Morrow Coaster Brake to the Shell cracker plant. But too often, our stories get overlooked by the big-city press. We’re here to make sure they don’t.

Who We Are

Beaver County Business is led by editor and publisher Rodger Morrow, a journalist and speechwriter who grew up among the mills, the bridges, and the businesses that gave this county its grit. Backed by a network of contributors, photographers, and local voices, we bring both professional reporting and neighborly perspective to our coverage.

Our Principles

  • Accuracy matters. We check our facts, even when they’re inconvenient.
  • Local first. If it affects Beaver County’s economy, we’re on it.
  • Integrity always. We follow the ethical standards of professional journalism.
  • A little humor helps. Business is serious, but it doesn’t have to be joyless.

“Our goal at Beaver County Business is to tell the stories that matter to the people who live and work here, blending accurate, ethical journalism with a touch of wit and a deep understanding of our community's economic landscape. From global corporations to local storefronts, we believe these stories are too important to be overlooked, and we're here to make sure they're not.”

Rodger Morrow

THE BEAVER COUNTY BUSINESS TEAM

Rodger Morrow

Rodger is the that rare writer who can juggle history, humor, and a stubborn Newfoundland without spilling his coffee. As Editor & Publisher of Beaver County Business, he’s managed to turn local industry, politics, and pierogies into must-read copy—no small feat in a county that still can’t decide where Chippewa ends and South Beaver begins.

Ron Weddington

Ron helps businesses find more customers and revenue without drowning in digital gimmicks. An accountant and University of Phoenix grad, he’s also a full-time dad and a golfer with more enthusiasm than accuracy.

Jackie Fullen

Jackie is Beaver County Business’s Home Economist in Residence. She spent years teaching English at Blackhawk High School before trading term papers for recipes as chef and owner of Sisters Restaurant in Beaver Falls. She admires Marie Kondo’s tidy gospel, though she admits she’ll never fold T-shirts into origami swans.

Vicki Berardi

Vicki Berardi, CPA, is Beaver County Business’s numbers whisperer. She writes about taxes with uncommon clarity, sharp humor, and just enough tough love to keep you out of trouble with the IRS.

Pam Crivelli

Pam spent three decades at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., mastering the art of memos, acronyms, and patience. Now back in Beaver County, she writes The Managerial Mind, a column that pokes fun at bureaucracy wherever it thrives—from the Beltway to Harrisburg to the local courthouse.

FRANK (FIXIT) Maiolo

Frank Fixit (Frank Maiolo) has the rare gift of making broken things feel ashamed of themselves until they start working again. From cars to lawnmowers to the occasional stubborn furnace, if it moves—or once did—Frank can coax it back to life with a wrench, a muttered oath, and maybe a little duct tape diplomacy.

Seamus Morrow

Seamus Morrow keeps four paws on the pulse of Beaver County as our Hooman Interest Editor. His editorial process involves long walks, soulful stares, and the occasional slobber on the copy.

Crystal Bennett

Our restaurant reviewer Crystal Bennett serves up her Moveable Feast column with the same skill she uses to wrangle bulldogs and the U.S. Mail. Whether it’s barbecue or bulk rate, she delivers—sometimes with sauce on the envelope.

Bitgirl

Bitgirl is a native Beaver Countian who writes about crypto while keeping her real name under wraps.
It’s not mystery—it’s survival; otherwise she’d spend all day fielding, “So, can you explain Bitcoin to me?

Jason Scarff

Jason Scarff wears more hats than a Dublin milliner in racing season. Our Irish webmaster from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath also keeps the books straight as business manager of Emmanuel Fine Art Photography—when he isn’t keeping BCB online and upright.
